Welcome to the Delta.....

Delta Blues that is......

If the river was whiskey...

What is this page and what's in here...?

What is this Delta blues stuff?

Sure you've heard Clapton do 'Crossroads' but that is a far cry from the way the song was originally done. Written and performed first by a man named Robert Johnson, it was one of many, by Johnson and others, that would epitimise the Delta blues sound and style. This style is the foundation of all blues music.

Many people don't think of, or don't know about, the roots of the blues. There were no electric guitar solos or hard driving bass lines. Instead, think of someone beating out a tune on a weather beaten, road worn six string hoping for little more than maybe their next meal.

    Pictures

  • Here are some pictures taken locally of people who love to play the blues. You can ask any of these folks and they'll tell you it's all about getting together and having a good times with other musicians. This is truely a mix... some people who have played together and have a history which goes back years.... others are brand new but have that burning desire to play the blues.... it doesn't matter either way.... as long as everyone gets their bite.

A few places you might like to visit

    King Biscuit Time
This is a great place! Sort of a tribute to Sonny Boy II. The history is interesting and there's some great music too.
    King biscuit Time blues page
About the same name but this has to be the best blues site out there. You have to go here if you love the blues.
    Harp Depot
Have some money burning a hole in your pocket? John has plenty of neat stuff on his webpage.
    F&R Farrell
These folks offer a very large selection of products exclusively for harmonica players. Their website only shows a small portion of what they offer through the catalog.
